Bill & Stefanie | Wedding Preview

Here is a quick preview of some of my favorite moments from Bill and Stefanie’s wedding in Bowling Green. Susan (Stefanie’s mother) wrote Stefanie a beautiful poem and framed it with two pictures. What a special and unique gift it was.

I love the excitement that Stefanie has right before there first look. She was so glad that they saw each other before the wedding so that she could relax and enjoy the rest of their wedding day together.

We were trying to mimic another bridal portrait from the church archives with this next image. Stefanie had a very classy and beautiful dress.

It amazes me what you can do with technology these days. Bill was able to talk with his brother who is currently serving in the South Korea over FaceTime on an iPad (thanks Apple), right after the Bill and Stefanie’s ceremony. What a sweet moment.

I love the excitement and joy on Stefanies dad’s face during the father daughter dance. What a special time they had together.

Bill and Stefanie, thank you so much for a beautiful wedding, you are an amazing couple. A full post will follow later.

Samantha & Jeremy | Louisville Engagement Portraits

We had a beautiful, rain free day for Samantha and Jeremy’s engagement portraits. We went around to a few spots in downtown Louisville and we also made it out to a farm in Simpsonville. My favorite from the session is the second image. It feels simple and timeless to me.

Jonathan & Sara | Preview

What a wonderful way to start off the new year – a beautiful wedding with Jonathan and Sara. It was a little cool outside, but it was still a gorgeous day. I love winter weddings.

This snow globe belonged to Sara and was given to her by her grandmother. Through the years Sara spent much of her time with her grandmother and every time she played it, it reminded her of her grandmother. Sadly the snow globe broke and was not repaired. Jonathan knew about this and he borrowed it without Sara knowing and had it fixed for Sara. He gave it back to her on their wedding day. It was a beautiful moment.

These are just a few favorites, more will follow in the next few weeks. Jonathan and Sara, thanks for a wonderful wedding.

Journey to Haiti – Day 4

And…this is very late in the game. Somehow this post didn’t get posted. Whoops. If you’re interested in started with the beginning of my Haiti story, you can check out Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 first.

Day 4 was our first day out on our own. We spent most of the day in a small but beautiful village outside of Léogâne, setting up a water purification system. After testing the water we found that there was quite a bit of bacteria in the water. Below is a picture of one of our translators cleaning out a water tank.

As we drove out into the country we didn’t see very many people, but whenever we stopped to check out a hand pump or a well, people would come from all over the place. The people of this village were very interactive in their community and were curious about the work that we were doing.

This gentleman here is the patriarch of his village. He was very eager to work and provide for his family and community.

Every time I look a this picture, I can’t help but think how the future of Haiti is in the hands of these children.

After we finished with the system we went to a tent city to purify another tank of water.

Many children were out playing around and having a good time.

Adam & Stacy | Lexington Engagement Portraits

We had a double engagement session with Adam and Stacy in Lexington because our first session was rained out. I love photographing in unpredictable weather!

Adam & Stacy met while attending the University of Kentucky and it was great to visit some of their favorite places – it’s always a joy for me to learn more about our couples and hear the stories of when they met, some of their most memorable dates, how they got engaged, etc. It’s the best part of my job!

They were full of great energy and were so much fun. We spent a lot of time in the Fine Arts Building where they first met and spent most of their time while dating.

I love this closing image, I like the passion and amazing color.
